Improving road safety – roads policing consultation

The Department for Transport (DfT) published a Call for Evidence  as part of its review of roads policing. The deadline for responses is 5 October 2020. DfT are reviewing existing roads policing to:

  • identify which current methods are most effective
  • understand how enforcement services can be enhanced to improve safety and reduce future casualties

As part of the review, DfT are exploring how:

  • we can better use intelligence to target dangerous behaviours
  • technology can assist in enforcing road traffic law now and in the future
  • to better understand the value of enforcement in influencing road user behavior
